Known as “The Gateway to the Mountains”, the transition from the piedmont is quite dramatic and obvious as the driver is greeted by the first of the North Georgia Mountains, and there’s the quaint railroad town of Blue Ridge, right around the corner. The rail runs right through the middle of town and is used by local logging, log high quality 2017 led flash light companies and log home companies, as well as the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. The views here are among the best in the state of Georgia.
The leaves reached their peak quickly, though dramatically this year and they’re probably ninety percent complete with their annual fall. That means Old Man Winter is right around the corner, but you wouldn’t know it with daytime highs currently averaging in the upper seventies.
The nights are becoming crisp and cool and the smell of burning firewood is once again in the air. Now is a great time to head for the mountains as cabin rentals are more widely available after the Fall foliage rush.
